Referral criteria
The primary remit for referral is that patients have an involved care team who
consider that the person concerned needs 24-hour supported care either for
recovery, or for long term placement.
o Clients will have a mental health problem that
requires 24-hour support.
o Clients will be 18 years old or over.
o Clients may demonstrate a level of motivation to
undertake a recovery programme, where able.
o Clients will demonstrate a level of engagement
within their current setting.
o Clients may express a wish to develop their
independentliving further.
o There is a period of time since episodes of self
harm, overdose, aggression or violence.
o Clients are concordant with medication either
administered or self medicating.
o Clients have a reasonable level of self care and
are able to undertake treatments prescribed.
o Clients will have planned support from their mental
health team.
o We will consider referrals for clients subject to
conditional discharge under Part III of the MHA.
o Sunkist do not take emergency admissions.
